YOUR PROBLEM

OUR SOLUTION

Rising Damp

Comes from contact between a wall and the ground.
Moisture which carries salts from the ground creeps up the wall by capillary action. The moisture evaporates leaving tell tale salts on the wall surface.

This is a sure sign of rising damp.

Appears at low level and rarely rises above 1.5 meters

  • To avoid cost , and where salt damage is slight , we recommend no re plastering initially, but a free re visit after 6 months to ascertain if required, This is in line with British Standards.
  • Treatment is the injection of a new damp proof course

Penetrating Damp & Dry Rot

Is found at higher level and is typically rainwater entering through broken tiles, cracked render, or badly fitting doors and windows.

  • Left untreated mould may develop, then wood rot and fungus
  • In extreme cases can lead to dry rot – very invasive and expensive to repair if left

Appears as a damp patch may disappear in dry weather

  • Treatment is repairs or a water proof barrier where penetration cannot be stopped such as high ground level

Condensation & Mould

CIs caused by warm inside air meeting a cold surface and water being deposited from the air as it cools. It may be especially obvious on windows and the inside surface of outside walls.

Evidence, is black spots of mould on decorations or furnishings.

  • Treatment is to improve ventilation by inserting passive vents
